James married Mary Tinline, daughter of George Tinline and Margaret Brown, in Jan-Mar 1864 in St. Paul's, Elswick, Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. (Mary Tinline was born in Apr-Jun 1839 in Corbridge, Northumberland, baptised on 15 Mar 1840 in Corbridge, Northumberland and died after 31 Mar 1901.)
