James Spens

  General Notes:

!James was a lieutenant in Corps of Engineers in service of East India Company,
Batch # 7409303, Sheet 23, source call# 934393, Edinburgh Parish births,
witness were William Wood, surgeon and John Wood, advocate. Attained rank of
Captain, was in Rectors class 5-6 in 1824-27. Served in Addiscombe in 1827 and
in R.E. (Bengal) 1828.

James married Penelope Clarina Westropp, daughter of Captain Lionel J. Westropp and Unknown, on 27 Nov 1849 in Ireland. (Penelope Clarina Westropp was born about 1825.)
