John's (Westgate) Cemetery no. 222, grey granite: The family burial place of
Thomas and Ester Spens: "The above Thomas Spens died Sep 24 1874 aged 57
years,disease of the lungs. buried Ward E., No. 189, Westgate Hill Cemetery;
Also noted to be buried with Thomas is Esther Spens died May 22nd 1889 aged 71 years, John James, a son, age 7 months, Agnes Spens, a dau, age 31 and Isabella is said to have died 20 Mar 1866, age 62. (There is no Spens death indexed in England or Scotland for Isabella Spens in 1866 and she is not burried there, only mentioned); Thomas and family lived in York according to Isabella Stonehouse Brumwell, his niece, but were burried in Newcastle upon Tyne;
