Mentioned in 1891 census living with parents at 37 Cannon Street, Elswick
South, Newcastle upon Tyne age 5. However this was probably wrong as he was believed to have been born in 1884. There is a plaque in Hexham Cathedral that says he died aged 32 in 1916 (war casualty).
