Stella Cunningham remembers Sarah as kind, caring and very intelligent. She was believed to have 11 children in total of whom 6 reached adulthood. She moved to Byfleet, Surrey in 1936 together with her son William (Bill) - she had previously lived with Bill and her daughter Stella and her husband Thomas in Elswick, Newcastle. They moved south after William lost his job, and her son Nathaniel told them about the Vickers-Armstong factory in Byfleet, which was taking on staff. It was Nathaniel (who was in the Navy) who knew of Byfleet because of a friend whose parents lived there.

Stella and Thomas moved to Byfleet in 1937 and (George) Andrew and family moved in 1940.

She made knitted clothes and sold them through a local shop in Byfleet.

Sarah married Andrew Tinline, son of Unknown and Ann Tinline, on 3 Oct 1900 in Register Office, Newcastle-o-Tyne, Northumberland, England. (Andrew Tinline was born on 10 Oct 1868 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England, died on 12 Feb 1925 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England and was buried in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England.)
